Now
What I'm focused on right now. What is this?
Working at a law firm
In a shocking turn of events, I've been working at a law firm since September 2024.
My official title is "Legal Assistant", in practice I have my hands in pretty much everything that happens day to day. They even let me write critical internal software the attorneys rely on!
The legal industry is a JUICY target for automation
The whole business is one giant bundle of back-office processes: Email and (some) physical mail comes in, filings and phone calls go out, attorneys hop on Zoom hearings, money flows through.
How long until the first fully automated law firm?
A human still has to remain in the loop to be ultimately responsible, but the tech to do this exists today. I don't code on this full-time, but I'll keep pushing in that direction until the attorneys tell me to stop automating.
Kitties
We adopted two Siamese kittens: Tleilax and Caladan.
They poop a lot and are sometimes annoying but they're cute so it's okay.

I also got married :)
